Where should I begin?
JUST BEGIN!!
It's easy to get overwhelmed if you try too much. Start small and add elements to your game throughout the game. The beauty of the game is, nobody knows how to play your game but you. If you make a rule, keep it. BUT you can always make a new rule that helps kids get around something that isn't working.
I played with idea of gamification for a couple of years, but I kept second guessing myself. Finally, I dove in headfirst. It wasn't always perfect, but the kids learned and had fun along the way.
For me, the easiest starting point was coming up with a theme to frame everything in the game around.
